The Short Cut

I have always had a thang about short cuts, in hairstyle, that is.

There is something chic and modern about a lady who sports a short mannish hairdo especially if she tempers this sometimes severe look with feminine attire, make up and accessories.

Here are some gorgeous ladies who show that the short cut need not be short in style.

Ceren Keyman

These photographs are pretty aren't they? The photoshoot showcase the jewellery designed by Turkish designer, Ceren Keyman. Her designs are cute and funky and the colours used are so sweet. My faves are the earrings in the top two photos, the necklace at photo 6, the red pipe brooch and the flower ring in the last photo. To know more about Ceren Keyman and see more of her designs, go to her website here. You may also read the interview which Laura of See Hear Say blog had with her here.

No Casualty

The weather may be insane. You may be stewing in your own juices.

The look may be casual but you don't want to look like a casualty.

Keep it simple. Keep it light. Stay cool. Look cool.

That's hot weather casual dressing.

Just don't forget the sunblock.

No Sweat

Normally, I would think that sweat pants or sweat shorts are meant for sports, exercising and the gym. The last things I would associate with a pair of sweat shorts, or sweat pants for that matter, are designer heels and bags or high fashion. However, after becoming a regular reader of fashion blogs from all over the world, I have come to realise one thing. And that is, fashion bloggers have one thing in common. When it comes to putting an outfit together, anything goes. Just check out Susie Bubble of Style Bubble and Brooke of Moohoop and you will know what I mean. Their experimentation and adventures in dressing have made the mundane, oftentimes onerous, task of slapping an outfit together exciting, inspiring and even fun.

Just the other day, I saw this outfit shot of another fashion blogger, namely, Nini of Nini's Style and I was duly impressed. Here is a classy look - great makeup, nice hair, beautiful designer jacket, smart shorts and fierce shoes. So I looked at the text at the bottom of the picture to see how she put this outfit together. In particular, since I am a fan of tailored and smart shorts, I wanted to know what shorts she was wearing. There it was stated that it was a pair of American Apparel sweat shorts. Well, well, well, whaddya know? Sweat shorts with vintage Escada jacket and Givenchy boots! You've got to hand it to Nini. She looked fabulous in this outfit. One thing is for sure, Nini of Nini's Stye certainly has got style and she rocked this look.

Then we have got Garance of Garance Dore who had an emergency of sorts when her fave jogging pants were dirtied in an airplane. So she decided to take matters into her own hands, literally, with a little do-it-yourself. She decided to buy herself a new pair of sweat pants and cut off the legs to just above knee length thereby creating for herself a pair of sweat shorts which she then wore to an Alexander Wang fashion show! You can read her amusing account here. Looking at the picture below, I think she looked pretty chic in that "diy" shorts with those gorgeous heels and her LV bag. No wonder her friend wanted to copy her look.

That's not all. Guess what the models at the Alexander Wang resort 2010 fashion show which she attended were strutting on the runway? Yes, that's right. Sweat shorts! :)

It's Black, It's White

There is no grey area about this. The colours black and white are great foils for each other. In the world at large, interpreting things only in black and white can be a little rigid, if not downright unreasonable at times. However, from an aesthetic stance, seeing things in black and white may not be a bad point of view at all. Shady about this? I'll just let the following pictures do the talking:
